The work plan of the BIONEER project is organized in 7 work packages (WP) based on the workflow of the project from production of base compounds through biomass and fermentation processing (WP1/2), followed by their chemical and enzymatic tailoring to develop BIONEER building blocks (WP3), and produce and qualify them for selected target market application at TRL6/7 (WP4). This is continuously guided by safety, sustainability and techno-economic assessments, and recommendations to apply the SSbD framework (WP5). A separate WP is devoted to market studies, engagement of society and key actors, dissemination, and exploitation (WP6), focusing on market and customer development and a detailed design of business models, as well as one WP for project management (WP7), also including work towards regulation and policy development.
